Klipsch RB-61 II Bookshelf Speaker Review

If you’re an audiophile, you’ve heard of Paul W. Klipsch. In 1946, he founded the loudspeaker company Klipsch. For over 70 years now, the company has been innovating, building and releasing highly efficient, low distorting and high quality loudspeakers. It’s was as a private company since it’s inception, until 2011 when it was acquired by Audiovox. However, their devotion to quality and performance products remains.

The Klipsch Reference II is their fifth generation of a line of products that was originally released in 1999. And they’ve come a long way. These speakers were built to provide endless hours of entertainment. The RB-61 features a two-way design. It has one high-output woofer, one horn-loaded tweeter and a rectangular/oval port. It has a neat design for its grilles, that allow it to attach magnetically. And all of the binding posts are gold plated for maximum efficiency (95dB). With such a high efficiency they’re great for your average amplifier, or for the high powered stereo amplifiers. When we tested these speakers, they performed very well all around. The mids and highs were crisp and detailed. However, like most bookshelf speakers the lows were not perfect. But that’s expected from a 6.5″ woofer. They just can’t push the amount of air that a subwoofer can. We’d recommend a subwoofer if you’re going to purchase this set of bookshelf speaker.

Looking at consumer reviews around the net, we’ve seen incredible support and shared enthusiasm for the Klipsch RB-61 II. In fact, 9 out of 10 users highly recommend them and they have an average of 4.85/5 rating when we averaged nearly 100 reviews from all over. Overall, these RB-16 IIs fall nothing short of excellence and are a great choice for a bookshelf speaker if you’re willing to fork up the money for them.

In 2012, Kameron founded HouseholdAudio as an outlet to write about his opinions and experiences with home audio and video products. Leveraging his first hand experience in the field while working for a general contractor, he began assembling lists of products, how to's and more. He tested products in his garage and reviewed them them as he installed them in custom homes. The goal was to give people easy access to quality information about car audio and electronics and tech so that you don't have to spend hours researching something like a home theater projector. Between 2015 and 2018 he worked as a Digital Product Manger at Motor Trend, working directly with the key editorial members like Mike Floyd and Ed Loh to build meaningful web experiences tailored to the automotive enthusiast. Today he's still assembling lists, testing products and writes articles along with the few members of HouseholdAudio's experts that he trusts. Apart from being the founder of HouseholdAudio, he's the primary editor and contributor of CarAudioNow.com as well.
