Description
The RT1900AC is Synology’s first stab at entering the wireless router marketplace. And they did well. It was introduced at Computex in 2015 and has been available ever since. In testing, it performed great as a Wi-Fi router and NAS server. It’s been reviewed as one of the best storage servers on the market. But what really makes this router stand out is its software.
The RT1900AC features SRM (Synology Router Management). It has five packages and installable apps and extended features. The SRM is also incredibly user friendly. It’s essentially the DSM NAS OS ported to a SoC platform with wireless.
All of the latest routers are pretty easy to install and set up. This router matches that trend. From start to finish, the configuration of the RT1900AC took us only five minutes.
Synology’s RT1900AC also performs incredibly well. It has a top speed of 1,300 Mbps at 5 GHz and up to 600 Mbps on its 2.4 GHz band. It’s powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor with 256MB of DDR3 memory. And with respect to connectivity, it features one 3.0 USB port and one SD car slots. Both on its left side. Use these ports for storage and external hard drives, or even to install add-on features to the router. You can even use the router as a host for Mac’s Time Machine backup, file sharing, media streaming and more.
